NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Playwright Horton Foote is best known for his plays depicting Southern family life in its finest.
"The Traveling Lady" is a play the Lamp-Lite Players are presenting for the third time. A second weekend performance is coming up.
It's the story of laughter and heartache.
Foote knows exactly when to present each emotion to keep the story interesting.
"It's just been an old favorite of ours. It's set in the '50's," said Sarah McMullan, the play's director. "It's not dated. It's really a classic. As people left the theatre last weekend, they said, 'Oh, that was good. I really enjoyed it,' so I think anybody is in for a treat when they come to see the show."
Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and there's always the 2 p.m. Sunday matinee. Tickets are available at the door.
