NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Thursday was opening day of the 35th annual Nacogdoches Pro Rodeo and Steer Show.
The rodeo in the oldest town in Texas began with "family night" with no fee for entry. But while it was free on Thursday organizer did ask for donation for the "Glory Gang Child Ministries."
"Rodeo cowboys and cowgirls travel all over the country. The fact that the Nacogdoches rodeo maybe smaller than the one in Houston or San Antonio there's still a lot money to be made here," explained Nacogdoches rodeo announcer Andy Stewart. "And it all counts towards the world standing."
The Nacogdoches Pro Rodeo and Steer Show runs through Saturday, March 28th. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the action starting at 7:45 p.m. at the Nacogdoches County Exposition and Civic Center.
