LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin's first indoor football team is ready to hit the gridiron.
The East Texas Timber Rattlers will host their first game Saturday night at the George H. Henderson Expo Center. The teams spent Friday putting the field in place.
Indoor football differs from its outdoor counterpart. The indoor game is played on a 50-yard field and there is no punting.
"This is going to be a game that is very fast paced," Rattlers owner Nancy Harvey said. "It's going to be like nothing they have ever seen before in this area, and it s something you can get involved in, because as you can see by the way the field is laying out, they are closer to the action than a normal football game."
The team will play home games at the George H. Henderson Expo Center.
The Rattlers' first opponent will be the Windy City Ravens.
