JASPER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Jasper County Sheriff's Department called in reinforcement on Sunday in the search for 35-year-old Carol Luckey, of Buna.
Luckey's mother reported her daughter missing after coming home to find her daughter's purse emptied on the floor and her car still in the driveway. But Carol was nowhere to be found.
For two days, the Buna community has joined together in search of Luckey.
"She was seen in this hunting club last Sunday around 5:45 p.m,” said Jasper County Sheriff Mitchell Newman.
Sunday morning, Texas Equusearch stepped in to lend a hand.
"The Sheriff called us in earlier today,” said Founder/Director of Texas Equusearch Tim Miller. "Just looking the area over, seeing what kind of resources we need to bring in that would be an asset. We've got a helicopter lined up now that's going to be here in the morning."
The Equusearch founder says the added volunteers provide strength in numbers on this difficult terrain.
"It's pretty rough,” said close family friend Andrea Rife. “They've been wanting us to search at least a hundred feet off the roadway, on every road. It's so thick out here with sticker bushes."
A bare footprint was found in the mud, just a mile past where Luckey's flip-flops lay in the woods.
"It gives you a whole lot of hope that maybe she is just down the road and maybe we can find her,” said Rife.
Luckey's family and friends both admit this is highly unusual behavior.
"With the circumstances, it is kind of unexpected,” said Rife. She would not have left her purse. She would not have left her cell phone. There's a lot of unanswered questions that the family is looking for.”
"Just trying to focus and scratch our heads and say how do we do something of this magnitude and this many acres and what little we have to do on,” said Miller. “So, we are just going to give it our best shot."
If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of Carol Luckey, please call the Jasper County Sheriff's Department.
