Nacogdoches Ministerial Alliance kicks off Holy Week

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Holy Week, the most meaningful of all Christian observances began Monday.

Each year the Nacogdoches Ministerial Alliance sponsors noon-day services at First United Methodist Church.

Monday, Reverend Leonard Sweat of St. James Baptist Church gave a sermon on the importance of doing one's best.

Each day, other pastors will deliver messages. They consider it an honor to be asked.

"It is difficult," said Pastor Kyle Childress of the Alliance. "We have many talented ministers from a variety of Christian traditions. We try to include people who haven't preached in several years or new ministers in town."

The noon services continue through Friday.

A 12:30 p.m. lunch is offered. A $5 donation is suggested.
