NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Nacogdoches Police officers arrested a 35-year-old Houston man for felony drug possession following a traffic stop on Loop 224 Tuesday morning. A search of his vehicle allegedly turned up about a pound of cocaine.

Ronnie Hamilton is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a first-degree felony possession of a controlled substance between 4 and 200 grams charge. No bail amount has been set at this time.

According to a press release, Hamilton was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Impala north on Loop 224 Tuesday morning when he was stopped for a traffic violation. The officer that made the traffic stop said that Hamilton was displaying signs of “extreme nervousness.”

After Hamilton gave the NPD officers consent to search his car, they found approximately one pound of cocaine in it, the press release stated. He was arrested at the scene and transported to the jail.

The Nacogdoches Police Department's K-9 unit and officers from its Street Crimes and Traffic and Patrol divisions assisted in the arrest.
