The Lufkin boys' soccer team is on a 20-game winning streak that they are hoping to keep alive as they leap further into the playoff run.
The Pack soared past Longview last week 3-1, and in the area-round find themselves paired with Dallas Spruce.
It's a team the Panthers said they aren't familiar with, but they aren't so much concerned with what Spruce will do. Instead, they're more concerned with what they can do.
“The key for us is to concentrate on what we're doing and to do what we do, and do it well,” said head coach Russell Shaw. “We have to execute and play our game.”
“The mindset is still to beat the 2002 record, which is to get at least to the fourth round, but we're looking for state really,” said senior defender Bradley Slusher. “We have confidence after the first round. We were a little scared, but we're good. Now we're confident.”
The two will be meeting this Friday at the Longview Soccer field. Kick-off is set for 6 p.m.
