NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches City Council members awarded the SFA men's basketball team this evening during their meeting to show their support and appreciation for the Jack's accomplishments this season.
The guys made it to the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back seasons, clinching their 3rd consecutive S.L.C title along the way wrapping up with a 29-5 overall record.
The mayor personally recognized each one of them.
This is a big part of Stephen F. Austin. Nacogdoches community is a huge part of our success. They're a huge part of our support system," said Brad Underwood, the head coach.
"I'm really appreciative, I know everyone else is appreciative too. It means a lot for people to recognize us and support us throughout the season. They show us that they appreciate the things we've done for the community and the school," said Dallas Cameron, a team member.
"On behalf of this team I say thank you. It's a very special group of young men who accomplished a great deal. I know that for me and for them memories were made that will last a lifetime. Thank you," said Underwood.
Underwood went on to say that they are working heavily on their recruiting in the off season, because they have some big shoes to fill losing 4 seniors, one of those being Jacob Parker.
He says he is excited for next year's opportunities with the team.
