NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

SFA Gardens is all ready to host Saturday's popular Garden Gala Day Spring Plant Sale. An Earth Day Celebration is the bonus attraction.

At the Pineywoods Native Plant Center on Raguet Street you'll find varieties of plants, shrubs and bushes. They even attracted a class from Texas A&M University. Saturday morning, hundreds of shoppers will select the ones they want to take home to their yards and gardens. Horticulturists say people may be growing weary of the rain, but the plants will benefit. Plus it makes for easy digging.

"This is the perfect time to put flowers, and shrubs and trees in the landscape with all the water we've had,” said Dawn Stover, a SFA Gardens researcher. “We, of course, always grow a variety of Texas tough plants; perennials, annuals."

Shoppers are advised to show up early to be ready when the event opens at 9. A wagon will come in handy if you have one. Earth Day events will entertain the children and their families. All the fun goes until two, rain or shine.
