Lufkin PD investigating possible gun cleaning death

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Lufkin Police officers are currently investigating what appears to be an accidental shooting death that occurred at a home in the 100 block of Stonewood Sunday morning.

Sgt. David Casper, a spokesman with the Lufkin Police Department, said LPD officers responded to the home in the 100 block of Stonewood at approximately 10:30 a.m. Sunday. When they arrived on the scene, they found the victim lying on the floor of a storage shed.

The dead man appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound to the face. There were two guns and gun cleaning supplies in the shed.

Casper said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

LPD detectives were called out to the scene, and the incident is still under investigation at this time. The name of the victim has not been released.
