LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - If you're a nurse looking for a new adventure, CHI St. Luke's Memorial may be calling. There business is said to be booming. So much so that it needs more nurses for its 24-hours-a-day, seven day-a-week health care operation.
"We're looking to hire about 40 RNs," said Julie Vallani, CHI St. Luke's Memorial Human Resources. "The qualities we're looking for are nurses who have a passion for quality patient care, who want to grow in their nursing career."
CHI St. Luke's Memorial employs more than 500 nurses at its 4 campuses here in East Texas. To help out with the recruitment process, CHI offers current nurses a referral bonus. And if the nurse they refer gets hired, they get the bonus."
Don Morris, Vice President of Human Resources, said his office is relying on current staff—along with their traditional recruitment efforts--because of present employees understand their care facility and can assure the person or persons they refer are a good "job match."
"They're going to understand what it takes to be successful here," Morris explained. "And honestly when our employees recruit someone, it puts a little skin in the game for them as well, because they want to make sure that person is successful.'
For the 40-plus RNs to be hired, they will work for Lufkin's two sites.
