HUDSON, TX (KTRE) - With the Pineywoods Showdown coming up on Monday, the Angelina County girls held their first practice Thursday night.
The team consists of seniors from schools all over Angelina County. Many of these girls grew up playing against each other and admit being on the same team together is different, but fun.
"It's kind of different. Most of the time I know them, not necessarily as an enemy, but definitely an opponent on the floor, so getting to have them play with me is a cool experience, something different," said Hudson basketball player Adriana Mosley.
"It's going to be pretty interesting because everybody has different talents," said Lufkin basketball player Dominique Doggett. "It's going to be very useful to us because we have some pretty good girls that are playing."
Although they're from different teams, they all have one thing in common; they're anxious and excited to play against the Nacogdoches County all-star team and are hoping to defeat them.
KTRE's Pineywoods Showdown is this upcoming Monday at Lufkin Panther Gym. The girls will play at 6pm, and the boys will take the court after that. All the profits from the showdown will go to local charities.
