NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Students began their STAAR testing today. In Nacogdoches as many as 50 students receive tutoring thru Solid Foundation.

On Monday, the community learned about Solid Foundation's Diversity Center. The Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting to welcome the new south side addition. Homework help is the primary service, but another focus is added when STAAR testing is happening.

“While the questions change from year to year, still the format and just having the kids comfortable with what they have to do on the STARS test, I think, will help,” said Jim Boiles, a Solid Foundation board member. “It's our plan to work a little bit on that all year."

Two churches help Solid Foundation with learning space. Nacogdoches Bible Fellowship, which is located east of downtown provides space on Monday and Thursdays. Life Church, which is located off of East Lane, serves the Diversity Center on Tuesday and Wednesday.
