TENAHA, TX (KTRE) - When deputies and investigators went to serve an arrest warrant on a 33-year-old Tenaha man Tuesday, they heard a single gunshot and found the suspect dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Shelby County Sheriff Willis Blackwell.
Blackwell said a group of SCSO deputies investigators went to a home in the 3200 block of State Highway 84 East to serve an arrest warrant for violation of an emergency protection order. After the officers made entry into the residence, they heard a single gunshot from an adjoining room.
They found the suspect, Allen P. Shoemaker, dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Blackwell said he contacted Texas Ranger Travis Brazil to the scene to conduct an investigation.
Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Jenny Hicks ordered an autopsy be performed on Shoemaker's body.
