TxDOT lowering speed limit between Central Heights, Rusk Co.

From TxDOT

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is preparing to post new lower speed limit signs on a portion of U.S. 259 in Nacogdoches County from Central Heights to the Rusk County line. The change comes after a recent speed zone study of the roadway. The change should help improve safety through the area.

The speed limit is being reduced from 75 mph to 70 mph from Central Heights to the county line along the roadway in both north and southbound lanes. Other areas of U.S. 259 will remain at the posted speed limits. The new limit will be in effect once signs are set.

Motorists are advised to abide by the posted speed limits and other traffic control devices on this and all roadways. Drivers should always drive to conditions and watch for posted signs signaling speed changes, work areas or other important information. Drivers should be prepared to reduce speeds accordingly to account for fog, rain, or other inclement weather conditions that might impact driving conditions.
