East Texas will be getting a mobile command center, like ones that were instrumental in the shuttle recovery effort. Nacogdoches City Commissioners are expected to award a contract to have a mobile command trailer built.
When completed it will be delivered to East Texas fully stocked with the latest technology according to Deputy Manager, Victoria LaFollett."It's turnkey. Everything comes in it and all the computers, all the radio systems that are associated with it, the satellites, the tv, the surveillance camera, everything comes within six months."
The unit will serve Nacogdoches, San Augustine and Shelby counties and their county seats. Nacogdoches is the administrator of the Homeland Security Grant and will house the mobile unit.
