DALLAS, TX - According to ESPN, the Los Angeles Angels will soon have a deal finalized to trade Josh Hamilton back to his former team, the Texas Rangers. The deal is expected to be finalized and announced on Monday.
With the Rangers, Hamilton made five All-Star appearances and made back-to-back trips to the World Series in 2010 and again in 2011.
The move won't come without a price though. Hamilton is owed $83 million from the Angels through 2017. For the trade to happen, Yahoo! Sports is reporting the Rangers will pick up $15 million of that tab while the Angels pay the rest.
All this movement comes after Hamilton relapsed this offseason and did not report to the Angels spring training camp. An arbitration panel ruled three weeks ago that the 33-year-old could not be suspended by the league.
