Lineman electrocuted while restoring power in Tyler Co.

TYLER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

A lineman died after being electrocuted while working to restore power in Tyler County Tuesday morning.

According to the sheriff's office, the man was working on electric lines on County Road 3630 in the Colmesneil area. When deputies and EMS arrived, they found a 33-year-old man dead.

Witnesses said the man and co-workers were walking out a line and getting ready to restore power from the recent storms when part of a downed wire struck him, instantly knocking him to the ground.

According to residents of the area, a man who lived near where the accident happened drove the lineman and his co-workers to a field right next to the County Road 3630, so first responders could have easier access to the victim.

According to the sheriff's office, the lineman's co-workers performed CPR on him until deputies and Dogwood EMS arrive at the scene.

The man's name has not yet been released.

He worked for Utility Plus, a sub-contractor for Sam Houston Electric Cooperative out of Livingston.
