LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Today, TxDOT joined forces with Angelina County law enforcement to launch the 14th annual statewide "Click it or ticket" campaign.
During the remainder of the month, law enforcement will be strictly enforcing seat belt laws, to ensure maximum safety for everyone on the roads.
Lufkin municipal judge April Earley said she is ready to see the number of seat belt offenses diminish.
"I hear a lot of excuses about why people can't wear their seat belts, whether it be medical, that they are too large of an individual to wear a seat belt, or that I just don't like to wear a seat belts," Earley said. "Regardless of whatever excuse there is, there is a law that protects us, that's meant to protect us, and we have to abide by that."
Fines and court cost for not wearing a seat belt could cost you up to $200.
