LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Due to the lack of space, for several years the Angelina County Clerk's Office suspended its service of accepting "end of life plans" or wills for safe keeping. That program is no longer dormant.
Angelina County Clerk Amy Fincher reopened the program in April.
A person can now come to their office and submit a will for safe keeping.
“We put it in a sealed envelope with their name, address, and signature,” said Fincher who began her term as Clerk January 2015. “And then we request that they give us at least two names of people that we can contact after their death."
Fincher said there is an $11 fee for the service and that the only person that can file a will on your own behalf is you.
The clerk's office conducts an identification verification before the will is accepted.
