NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches High School has adopted Nepal Earthquake Relief as its school-wide fundraising effort.
The idea got kicked off by the Student Council under the leadership of Trishala Roy. She's of Indian descent, and her mother has friends near the earthquake scene. It didn't take long for the student to get a fundraising campaign going.
"Even though it's so many thousands of miles away it's also close to home because we know these people and thankfully nobody in their families were hurt, but I feel like, us as a small East Texas community we can make a little bit of difference," Roy said.
The Student Council is posting signs around town asking residents to go to the Nepal Needs Nac Now gofundme account at this link. You can also stop by Nacogdoches High School to drop off a donation.
