It's barely tax season, but some East Texas businesses are already flooded with new customers ready to spend their tax refund money.
K & K Auto Sales on North Timberland in Lufkin is a busy place these days. Salespeople there know when people have money to spend, a car dealership is a common first stop.
The first of many rapid refund checks come during the month of January and some of those getting money back from the government won't hesitate to take their check directly to an auto salesman.
Sales manager Bill Marlin says, "People have waited all year long; waiting for this particular time of the year so they can spend that money and get them another ride."
Auto sales numbers at some car dealerships triple during tax season.
