SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Deputies with the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office arrested a 39-year-old man on Tuesday in connection to allegations that he threw hot eggs onto his mother and brandished a knife at his brother during a heated argument.

Edrick Reynard Ponder Jr. is still being held in the San Augustine County Jail on a second-degree felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge and a third-degree felony injury to the elderly charge. Collectively, his bail was set at $20,000.

Chief Deputy Gary Cunningham, a spokesman for San Augustine County Sheriff's Office said that during a family dispute, Ponder threw hot eggs at his mother, causing minor burns. Later, Ponder allegedly brandished a knife at his brother when the fight continued.

Cunningham said that Ponder claimed that his brother “pulled a gun on him” during the argument. However, no gun was found, the chief deputy said.

Because the report hadn't been filed yet, Cunningham said he didn't know what prompted the argument between Ponder and his family members.
