CROCKETT, TX (NEWS RELEASE)
May 12, 2015 – The Houston County Hospital District (HCHD) Board of Directors continues to transition operations of Crockett, Texas-based Houston County Medical Center (HCMC) back to the District in an effort to keep healthcare and jobs local.
After last night's well-attended Town Hall meeting in Lovelady, Texas, the Town Hall in Crockett for this Thursday has been moved from the First Community Bank's Community Room to the Crockett Civic Center to allow a larger attendance. The next meetings will be Thursday May 14 at the Crockett Civic Center, starting at 5:30 pm. One more meeting has been scheduled for Monday may 18 at Kennard High School starting at 6 p.m.
Each event will include a hospital transition update and will be held in an open forum format so attendees can ask questions and directly address the Board and hospital leadership. In addition, attendees can learn more about HCMC's progress toward participation in the area's insurance plans.
“Supporting our local economy is crucial, but most important is ensuring the residents of Houston County and surrounding areas have ready access to quality healthcare. By transitioning hospital operations back to the District, we are doing just that,” said HCHD Board Vice Chair Larry Christopher. “HCMC and its clinic will be here for years to come to serve this area's health needs. We look forward to sharing more details about the medical center's bright future at the upcoming Community Town Hall meetings.”
The HCHD Board officially takes over operations of HCMC and the Health Clinic at HCMC on June 1, 2015. To assist transition initiatives, the Board engaged Community Hospital Consulting (CHC Consulting) of Plano, Texas. Regular progress updates and plans will continue to be shared at HCHD Board meetings.
