Lufkin native participating in first annual Tunnel To Towers Tower Climb in New York City

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Lufkin native who is a petty officer in the U.S. Coast Guard will be taking part in a special race honoring an FDNY fire chief that lost his life on September 11th, 2001.

Jordan Wagstaff will be taking part in the First Annual "Tunnel to Towers Tower Climb" in New York City. The race will be taking place on Sunday, May 17th.

Wagstaff is stationed in New York and is honored to be representing Lufkin in such a prestigious race.

"It's great. I'm really proud to represent Lufkin,” Wagstaff said. “It's really an honor to be part of it."

The race is only opened to first responders and military, and Wagstaff is one of the few participants from Texas. His group raised around $1,375 for the Stephen Siller Tunnel To Towers Foundation.
