Severe weather sidelines golf tournaments at Crown Colony

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The rain has is also wreaking havoc on golf tournaments at Crown Colony.

The lawns are plush and green, but they are also soaked. The recent rain forced the re-scheduling of Monday's Kiwanis tournament, which had 108 registered players.

The showers have now impacted the Lufkin Golf Association's La-Di-Da three-day women's tournament. It was scheduled to start Tuesday. The rain has postpone this match of more than 100 players.

"We've had to reschedule those due to all the rain we've had. We've had two bridges washed out that we had to rebuild," said Don Burns, Golf Pro Manager at Crown Colony Pro Golf Club. "And so the golf course itself, we just didn't feel like it was going to be in its prime shape, like as it normally is this time of year."

Burns is meeting with the La-Di-Da organizers Thursday to reschedule its event. The Kiwanis tournament is reset for June.

Meanwhile, Brookshire Brothers' tournament is set to begin on Monday. Burns will keeping his eye on the weather forecast. So far, it looks like the tournament will be a go
