2nd annual shoe drive in memory of Nacogdoches boy underway

NACOGDOCHES, TX (News Release) - The second annual "Dane Shaw Shoe Drive" is underway. The event is run in memory of Dane Shaw, who passed in a house fire June 2nd 2013 at the age of 4.

New or lightly worn shoes will be collected from now until June 5 and distributed to children at Glory Gang Ministries, First Baptist Church of Nacogdoches, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nacogdoches, Hospice Shop/Shared Blessings and Fredonia Hill Baptist Church in Nacogdoches. Shoes can be dropped off at Adventure Island Learning Center at 4528 Northeast Stallings Drive or at Shaw Photography at 623 North Street.

The public is invited to a "Fun Day" on June 5 in remembrance of Danes precious life , where children can enjoy snow cones, popcorn, bounce houses and special appearances from members of the police and fire departments in Nacogdoches. It begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. at Adventure Island Learning Center, located at 4528 Northeast Stallings Drive.

"We miss our Dane every day and want to be sure his name lives forever," said Dane's mother, Alex Shaw. "This is one thing we are doing to ensure it does, among other things."
