LIVINGSTON, TX (KTRE) - The Polk County district attorney has confirmed the Texas Attorney General's Office is investigating the county's district clerk office for financial misconduct.
District Attorney Lee Hon said they were made aware of a complaint last August and the county auditor and an outside company audited the office.
The attorney general's office got involved in September.
Hon said representatives from the office are in Livingston Wednesday and the investigation is ongoing.
"Concerns came up about the handling of the money, like, for example, deposits of checks and money," Hon said.
Kathy Clifton is the county's district clerk.
