NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A few months ago, we asked you to go online to help Stephen F. Austin State University Men's Basketball Coach Brad Underwood with a national competition.
Thousands of votes piled in for the beloved SFA coach, and he was able to land the second place spot, earning $10,000 for the charity of his choice.
This afternoon, Underwood was able to donate his Infinity Coaches Charity Challenge check to the Nacogdoches United Way.
"One of the main reasons is that we wanted to keep this very very local," said Underwood. "The United Way is a wonderful organization, and for my wife and I, it means a great deal to be able to help people right here in Nacogdoches, and in the meantime it's helped SFA and our program."
While first place won $100,000, Underwood said he is certain this money will be very beneficial to the East Texas community.
"It seems like every time I clicked on EPSN online, I saw something about Stephen F. Austin and our program, so it's a win-win situation," Underwood said. "Again, the people of Nacogdoches are the big winners."
