LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - While watching extreme couponers shopping, you might wonder if all the effort put into couponing really pays off.
East Texas Couponer,Lisa Weiss suggested a grocery shopping challenge to put couponing to the test. Lisa says she doesn't mind putting her money where her mouth is.
"I'm going to challenge you to take $10 and my shopping list, and I'm going to take $10, my shopping list, and my binder. We're going to find out if this really works and how much money you can save doing this. Let's go!" Lisa said.
There were four items on the $10 challenge list. The items were: I Can't Believe it's Not Butter, Ball Park Franks, eggs, and Sweet Baby Ray's Barbeque sauce. The final results were shocking.
"How did you do?" Lisa asked.
I was able to buy one of each item.
"I got six Sweet Baby Ray's and eight Ballpark Franks," Lisa said.
After comparing receipts, I saw for myself that by couponing, price matching, and waiting for the sale cycles, Lisa was able to buy 16 items compared to my four. She added that she would save her receipt to score rebates later.
A slew of East Texans have already signed up for Lisa's couponing tutorials and have joined her Facebook group.
"Eventually you get to the point where you know this coupon says this and that, and it's going to work," said Andra Ivy, a new couponer.
The couponers said saving so much money is a rush, and after watching the couponing connoisseur out-shop me by carrying a well organized binder full of coupon cash, it really is Less With Lisa.
Lisa does teach two-hour classes that go deep into mega saving. If you would like to find out how to sign up, here is the link:
