LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 24-year-old man after he led them on a brief chase along Jordan Street early Monday morning.
Pablo Tyrone Duran, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a state-jail felony evading arrest or detention with a vehicle charge. No bail amount has been set at this time.
Sgt. John Valdez with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office said NCSO deputies pulled Duran's vehicle over in the 200 block of Jordan Street for traffic violations at about 12:30 a.m. Monday morning. Shortly after the deputies approached the vehicle, Duran allegedly took off, Valdez said.
However, Duran didn't get very far. Valdez said that Duran stopped his vehicle in the 800 block of Jordan, bailed out, and ran into a nearby apartment complex.
NCSO deputies knocked on several doors in the apartment complex, and eventually found Duran hiding in one of them, Valdez said. The deputies took Duran into custody without any further incident and took him to the county jail.
Valdez said he didn't know why Duran ran from the deputies. He added that Duran, who is a parolee, didn't have any drugs, alcohol, or weapons on him or in his vehicle.
