ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Texas Department of Transportation has several traffic alerts still in effect for drivers in a five-county area, including Old Diboll Highway or FM 2497.

Monday's overnight storms produced so much rainfall that it flooded out 2497 in an area about 5 miles southeast of Highway 94 west.

The road was impassable after Monday night's storm. A TxDOT employee on scene Wednesday night said that the flood water had subsided late Tuesday. But for some reason, he said, the road flooded again Wednesday becoming impassable.

Late Wednesday night, the flood waters were receding and TxDOT had begun allowing motorists to slowly drive, even though one side of the road is partially flooded.

Crews expect the water to runoff overnight.
