NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A love for reading combined with quick recall placed 35 Nacogdoches elementary students in this year's Battle of the Bluebonnet Books.
The students answered questions about books in a quiz-bowl format. They even had a real game show type buzzer to push.
Each student read at least 10 books currently on the Texas Library Association's Bluebonnet List. The end-of-year activity praises students who read during the year and also encourages them to continue reading through the summer.
"You can go to the Texas Library Asssociation and there is a link called Reading List and then it will have the Bluebonnet for 2015-2016 and right now the Nacogdoches Public Library has copies of them so they can start reading them this summer and it will count for next year," said Christy Wilson, the NISD lead elementary librarian.
The most popular book among students this school year was 'Dead City', a book about zombies.
