JASPER, TX (KTRE) - Lake Sam Rayburn has been the focus of attention for thousands of East Texas during the past several weeks, after heavy rain and flooding.
The main question among surrounding residents is are they releasing the dams any time soon?
The Army Corps of Engineers, which operates the dam said they have no plans, at this point, to release the dam.
They do have one generator operating at this point in time.
This generator is designed to keep up with the influx of rain they have seen at the lake.
The generator will release a little bit of water at a time, but this will not be comparable to what would be seen if the dam was completely opened.
While we expect to see sunny skies in the coming weeks, the Army Corps of Engineers has assured us that are keeping a very close eye on this situation.
