LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - If you are looking for a fun way to keep the kids reading this summer, several Lufkin elementary principals have a weekly event you won't want to want to miss.
"Summer Reading in the Park" is an opportunity for kids of all ages can come for books and story-time, every Wednesday through July, at Jones Park starting at 11 a.m.
The coordinators say the event was such a success last summer, that they have been highly anticipating this year's turnout.
"Ms. Wade and I, the principal at Dunbar, and Mr. James, the Principal at Garrett Primary, started the Summer Reading in the Park Program," said Elizabeth Walter, Principal Brandon Elementary. "This is our second year, and the children come every Wednesday. They can come. We collect books all year long for them, and they can just have the books, so that they can keep reading going all summer."
Summer reading in the Park continues until July 22nd.
