Kirbyville police search for two suspects in Jasper-Newton electricity plant burglary

JASPER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

The Kirbyville Police Department is looking for suspects who burglarized the Jasper-Newton Electric Cooperative headquarters on Highway 96.

The burglary happened last Thursday. Officials say it's a trend in Deep East Texas. Electric yards have been getting broken into. However, the JNEC electric company caught it all on tape.

The surveillance video was provided the Kirbyville Police Department. The suspects, two slim black males entered the JNEC property by cutting the fence on one side of the property.

The suspects used tools to break into and take what would later be calculated as about $15,000 -$20,000 dollars worth of property. Items like wiring, chain saws, lineman equipment, tools, and a large transmission jack are just some of the things the burglars drove off with.

Sgt. Josh Hancock says the truck the suspects were driving was a maroon Dodge four door. They stole items from JNEC for around three hours according to officials.

The company serves over 22,000 customers in Jasper, Newton, Angelina, Orange and Sabine counties.
