LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The Lufkin Fire Department is still working to determine what sparked a house fire Thursday night.
Crews responded to reports of heavy smoke was coming out of the back of a home on the 1100 block of Raguet Street around 9 p.m.
"When we arrived, there was concern that there was a victim inside the home. Firemen did an interior search and found that no one was inside the home," said Lufkin firefighter Jesse Moody.
The home is a total loss, however first responders said many of the items inside may be salvageable.
Firefighters said the blaze began in the attic, however, the investigation remains open.
Hudson and Nacogdoches Fire Departments also provided mutual aid. It took nearly three hours to get the fire under control.
