ZAVALLA, TX (KTRE) - Firefighters from four different departments joined forces to battle a blaze at a property in Zavalla that started in a shed and spread to a nearby wood frame house and a mobile home Tuesday afternoon.
Chris Wade, the chief of the Zavalla Volunteer Fire Department said that the fire at the property on Fannie Street started at 4:30 p.m., and fire crews had it under control by 6:15 p.m. He said although one of the structures was a total loss, firefighters were able to save two mobile homes.
The home's residents were not home when the fire started, Wade said. He added that someone in the neighborhood called the fire in to 911.
Wade said firefighters are still at the scene getting hot spots under control.
In addition to the Zavalla VFD, the Huntington, Fuller Springs, and San Augustine, VFDs assisted with the fire as well.
