LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - After just more than three years in town, the Lufkin Fuel City location has been bought out by a popular convenience store/truck stop chain.
Fuel City store manager Nick McLane confirmed Pilot Flying J will buy the store in mid-July.
McLane said the move comes after a mutual agreement between the companies.
"They liked the way we were running," McLane said. "There was nothing negative about it."
McLane said Pilot Flying J would likely keep all current employees of Fuel City and may even hire more.
He said the Denny's restaurant would stay put but the Fuel City tacos and fried pies would be replaced.
According to the Pilot Flying J website, the company has 650 locations around the nation.
A representative of Pilot Flying J declined to comment, stating policy to "not discuss business development opportunities."
