LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - The absence of rain has allowed the City of Lufkin Street Department to go full-throttle on culvert replacements.
Crews are working adjacent to Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in North Lufkin replacing rusted and worn tin or metal culverts.
Lufkin's City Engineer Chuck Walker said that they're installing plastic corrugated culverts.
They are much stronger and allow better flow of flood waters.
This line of culverts runs from Williams Street and into a creek south of Brandon Park.
