Lufkin Police say burglary spree has died down

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - After a rash of burglaries at the beginning of this week, Lufkin Police Department says the intrusions have died down for now.

Between Sunday and Monday night, Lufkin Police got over 13 reports of car burglaries. Nine guns were taken from those cars.

There were no arrests made, but Lufkin PD said their extra patrol in those areas have helped.

However, last night, City Councilwoman, Sarah Murray, said there was an attempted burglary at her home.

"Several friends have talked to me lately about hearing noises and things in their storage rooms being rambled through and things just in a different place than where they had been earlier. It has them frightened. The first time something is not right, call 911," said Murray.

Murray said the suspects didn't gain access.
