ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Buckner Children and Family Services of Lufkin, part of Buckner International, has teamed up with KSWP-FM 90.9 and KAVX-FM 91.9 to collect new shoes to benefit children in Angelina County. From May 1st – June 26th, they have on-going collection sites at 35 locations throughout the county that will benefit children in Angelina County who will be provided the donated shoes during the Junior League of Lufkin's Back to School Bonanza on Saturday, August 1st.
“There are donation boxes all around in the communities. So, when you see these donation boxes, which are "Shoes for Orphan Souls," please donate a new pair of shoes because they are going to kids in our community," said Stephanie Gustafson, Chair for JLL's 5th Annual Back to School Bonanza.
Last year, the Junior League provided free backpacks filled with school supplies to 1,500 students who had a financial need. This year, by teaming up with Buckner, they are hoping to serve 2,000 students with the backpack, school supplies and new shoes.
To donate a new pair of athletic or canvas shoes in sizes Youth 1-Adult 9.
Monetary donations can be made to Buckner Children and Family Services to purchase shoes for the shoe collection.
