East Texas officials warn of flooded roads

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Roads across East Texas are starting to experience some minor flooding due to rain from Tropical Depression Bill.

Nacogdoches County Road and Bridge are taking measures to close County Road 711 due to high water. This road connects Highway 225 and Highway 21. Lanana and Banita Creeks are rising, but so far remain in their banks.

At 1:15 pm, TXDOT reported flooding in three separate areas on FM1818.

Earlier in the day on Wednesday, TXDOT crews reported water over FM 1475, FM 326 and US 69 South near Buck Creek.

There is also reports of street flooding in Nacogdoches. According to the Nacogdoches police facebook page, Nacogdoches is currently experiencing localized street flooding due to heavy rainfall. The areas to avoid are Raguet Street near Blount, Austin Street east of Lanana Creek to University Drive, Austin Street at Pecan and Powers Street at the Banita Creek Bridge.

Due to a loss of power, the Lufkin VA clinic will be closed Wednesday. A spokeswoman at the clinic said any appointments are canceled for the day.

According to the Oncor website, about 330 customers lost power in Angelina County Wednesday morning.
