SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - All the rain that has fallen since April continues to take its toll on San Augustine County Roads.
Old County Road 705 less than a ¼ mile from Farm-to-Market Road 83.
It is covered with water for at least a half-mile south.
Commissioner David McEachern said this is one of five impassable roads in his precinct.
He's replaced some of the same culverts six times this year alone.
"We fix them one month and it washes them away seems like the next month, we're back out here working on them again,” Commissioner McEachern explained. “It's just really kind of frustrating, you know."
Underwater roads are existing in other precincts.
County Road 3550 in Commissioner Joey Holloway's Precinct 3 is submerged for a great distance.
The county won't know how bad these roads are until the water recedes or dries up.
The Commissioners Court is in the process of applying for federal disaster aid to help out with the repairs.
