LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Lufkin police arrested a man who is accused of trying to drown his girlfriend in a ditch on Davis Street early Tuesday.

Kierra Deshard Walker, 24, is charged with second-degree assault.

According to the police report, officers were dispatched to Davis Street at the intersection of Mize Street for a naked woman being dragged down the street.

A witness said he saw Walker holding a woman up against the fence. They said Walker left, then came back and had her in a ditch. They said she then ran toward a building to get help and Walker grabbed her, took off her shirt and dragged her down a parking lot. Three men then approached them and Walker ran off, according to the witness.

The woman was wet with cuts on her arms and face and said she was at home when Walker came over and said he wanted to stay. She said she did not want him to stay and left with her phone. She followed him out and that is when he dragged her down the street and put her head in a wet ditch and used one hand to cover her mouth and the other to pinch her nose.

The report states officers later found Walker walking down the road and they placed him under arrest.

His bond had not been set as of 10:15 a.m.
