TYLER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A two-vehicle crash on US Highway 69 south of Colmesneil Wednesday afternoon resulted in the deaths of six people.
According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred at about 3:15 p.m. near the intersection of US 69 and County Road 3205. Trooper Stephanie Davis, a DPS spokeswoman said that four of the six occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.
The two other occupants later died as a result of their injuries.
"Troopers and other emergency personnel are on the scene to assist other victims and to safely clear the scene," the press release stated.
Witnesses say a log truck, attempting to avoid the two crashed vehicles, swerved into a guardrail.
As a result of the wreck, US 69 was closed in both directions in the vicinity of CR 3205.
At this time all lanes of US 69 have been reopened
