DPS releases names of 6 killed in Tyler Co. wreck

TYLER COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - The Department of Public Safety has released the names of all six killed in a two-vehicle crash in Tyler County Wednesday afternoon.

Michael Ray Simmons, 32, of Brookland, Doris McGowan Rogers, 62, of Warren, Jewel Denson McGowan, 95, of Warren, and Sharon Kaye Morgan, 68, of Kountze, died at the scene, which was seven-tenths of a mile south of Colmesneil. Brandon Lee Simmons, 30, of Colmesneil, died at a Woodville hospital at 6:53 p.m. and Timberlee Kay Gossett, 22, of Kountze, died at a Beaumont hospital at 5:07 p.m.

According to a DPS report, Brandon Simmons was driving a 1997 GMC pickup north on US 69 and for some reason crossed the center stripe and hit a 2011 GMC SUV head-on. Rogers was driving the SUV.

Michael Simmons was a passenger in Brandon Simmons' vehicle. The other three were passengers in Rogers' vehicle.

There were no survivors in the crash.
