NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office have arrested a Nacogdoches man accused of setting his girlfriend's home on fire after she asked him to leave Sunday afternoon.
Monroe Deanthony Ward, 25, is charged with first-degree arson causing bodily injury.
According to an arrest affidavit, deputies were dispatched to a call in the 3000 block of Woden Road at 2:37 p.m.
Deputies reported that Ward and his girlfriend were arguing when she asked him to leave, causing him to become even angrier, according to the affidavit.
The affidavit states Ward poured gasoline all over stuffed animals and the carpet in her bedroom and lit it on fire.
Another woman in the home began carrying out the three children that were at the home and said she injured her back while carrying a 13-year-old. She is also eight months pregnant. Sheriff Jason Bridges said the unborn child is OK.
