Court order handed out to Church of Wells members

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Six members of the Church of Wells have been given a no-contact order from a Harris County Judge following their arrests at Lakewood Church this past Sunday.

According to a court clerk for Judge Bill Harmon, an order was handed out to the members that states the group is not allowed within 200 feet of Lakewood Church and are not allowed to make contact with Joel or Victoria Osteen while the case is pending.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the men could be heard in the courthouse saying, ""He is not a true Christian."

The paper continued stating deputies from the Pct. 1 Constable's office told the men to stop shouting.

On June 28, Jacob Gardner, Richard Trudeau, Kevin Fessler, Mark De Rouville, Matthew Martinez, and Randall Valdez were all arrested after the six men interrupted Osteen while he was preaching. Church goers claim the group of men were shouting that the megachurch pastor was a liar.

In a statement released earlier this week, Elder Gardner stated, ""The seven of us involved in the effort to warn Lakewood Church of the coming judgment, are all of one mind in regards to the message that each of us were proclaiming this past Sunday. Most of the small substance of what has been reported of the phrases that were spoken by us are accurate, but they are by no means the complete burden that flooded our hearts that morning, and that has flooded our eyes with tears for many months now as we have preached to those multitudes flowing in and out of Lakewood, like droves tottering on the brink of destruction."

The group's next court date is set for Aug. 25.
