Two vehicle head-on collision on Loop 224 in Nacogdoches leaves one dead and others injured

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

According to the Nacogdoches Police Department, a two-vehicle head on collision left one man dead and several injured Saturday morning. 

The fatal wreck occurred in the 4300 block of Southeast Stallings Drive. At 7:51 A.M., Candel Cloudy, 43, of Center, was traveling south on Loop 224 in a Ford 350 van when she crossed into the center lane and struck a Dodge pickup truck traveling northbound.

The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene. Two children were also in the vehicle and were taken to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, where they are undergoing surgery. 

According to Nacogdoches PD Sgt. Brent Handy, Cloudy was severely injured and also taken to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital. She was later flown to ETMC in Tyler. The conditions of the two children and Cloudy are unknown at this time.

Nacogdoches P.D. was assisted by the Nacogdoches Fire Department and the Department of Public Safety. Loop 224 was closed down in the area of the accident for five hours so NPD could clear the scene and begin their investigation.

The identity of the man killed has not been released pending notification of family.
